Is it wrong to be happy, giddy, actually, at the prospect that Takeru Kobayashi of Japan, the six-time champion of the annual Nathan's Fourth of July hot dog eating contest, may not be able to compete this year because of an arthritic jaw.
How thrilled am I that an American may now stand a chance to win this year!
Joey Chestnut (an American), beat Kobayashi's record at a qualifying event earlier this month. It CAN happen!
Surprised that I'm "in the know" about this? This has bothered me for years (six, to be exact). Is that racist of me? Un-PC? TOUGH CRAP! He doesn't even frickin SPEAK ENGLISH! The Fourth of July is an AMERICAN holiday, the Nathans contest (in my opinion) should be open ONLY to Americans.
Mind you, Kobayashi is not out yet. He's hoping that with the help of a chiropractor, he'll be able to compete.
God forgive me if I inadvertently send malocchia vibes his way.
He's won six titles.
Enough.
Time to sit this one out.
GO JOEY!

Lately...
So much has been going on. I feel like I'm constantly swimming upstream.
I didn't plan to abandon my blog, but my head is in a million different places and I can't focus on any one thing.
I dont want this blog to be about me whining about lifes injustices, SO, nothing new to report, I'll be back when I have something interesting to say.

The Sopranos - The Finale (Part II)
OK, I've calmed down, I've had a chance to process the show and have come to terms with the fact that...it's over.
I was MAD (did you guess that on your own). How could it JUST END? What happens next? Does Silvio survive? Does he ever wake up? Who takes over in NY? Do the Sopranos live to have another meal at Nuovo Vesuvio or do they meet their end at Holsten's?
I prefer not to join the wackos that are writing their own endings and sharing it with the world. In most of those endings, Meadow walks into the diner in time to see her father/family being massacred. Come on, leave it alone.
As angry as I was at the end (lots of yelling, throwing pillows, stomping around the apartment, railing at the unfairness of it) Tony lived. That was all I was really worried about.
I started getting nauseous around 8:30 last night, nervous about what would happen in what I thought would be a violent, upsetting send-off. I spent the hour tensed, on the edge of the couch, eyes darting to the clock every few minutes. Any time Tony stepped outside, I worried that "this was it".
I knew they would find Phil and thought it fitting that it was his own car that crushed his fat head. I loved it when Paulie sat down with the "youngsters" and unbuttoned his pants and then when he told of seeing the Vrgin Mary in the Bing. Tony's reply was priceless!
In all fairness, David Chase did an excellent job! I was riveted. I was entertained.
And yes, I know there are many of you out there that hate The Sopranos. I live with one such person. My beloved took great delight in pointing something out to me; something David Chase did masterfully last night... Know how to keep an asshole in suspense?

The Sopranos
SPOILER ALERT...If you've not watched the June 3rd episode, go no further.
I'm mourning.
Not just because of what they did to poor, stupid Bobby, or for the attempt on Silvio (but really, he's as good as dead since there's only one episode left), but because there's only one episode left!
I watched, last night, hanging off the couch waiting for the unthinkable to happen to my beloved Tony and so sad at what did happen. Janice, who I think is usually SO over the top, was understated and tragic for a change. The whole Tony/Melfi thing was strange, but that's NEVER been my favorite aspect of the show. More annoying than anything. I was, however, ENRAGED at how whatsisface Bogdanovich acted at the dinner party...that was awesome!
I'm sad that the show is ending, but I'm so anxious to see HOW it ends.
I can only imagine what my posts would have been like last year, when I spent almost every Thursday night sobbing over poor Denny. I probably would have posted daily with all the different plot ideas I came up with.
I don't watch much tv, but the shows I DO watch, I'm quite passionate about....obviously. ;)
